10 Easy Ways to Thank Our Teachers

"Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things humans can do for each other." – Randy Pausch

November is here! This month holds many different meanings for many different people. But first and foremost, it is the month of thanks. "Thanks" is defined as the exclamation or expression of gratitude to another person. And while the word has been around since the mid-13th century, the way we express it is ever-changing

While sometimes it might be more natural to focus on our stresses, its important to step back and reflect on those who have impacted our lives over the last 11 months of 2021. Whether you are a student, parent, guardian, friend, or member of the community, teachers and educators have continuously had a profound impact on our every day lives.

Teachers provide care, structure, encouragement, and knowledge for students. They have adjusted to different learning circumstances, formed life changing bonds, and eased worries of many parents and guardians. It can be all too easy to forget how much we depend on teachers. So, Cherokee County Educational Foundation wants to provide 10 simple ways for you to say thank you to our teachers and educators.

Thank You Gift Ideas

1. Handwritten note
Everyone loves to receive a handwritten note! It can be as simple or as lengthy as you want. Not only are they personal, and come directly from the heart, but they can be kept by the teacher for years to come.

2. Self-care package
Pamper the teachers in your life! A fun basket loaded up with fuzzy socks, candy, and lovely smelling soaps and lotions is sure to make any teacher feel pampered.

3. Gift card for dinner
What's better than a free dinner? Grab a gift card with enough to cover dinner for two at a local restaurant. Your teacher will love not having to worry about what to do for dinner for a night!

4. Something homemade

Are you crafty? Do you love to bake? Paint a nice picture, knit a scarf, or bake some delicious cookies! You can't go wrong with a homemade gift.

5. Flowers

Flowers or succulents for the classroom are sure to brighten anybody's day. All you need to do is find the perfect ribbon for a finishing touch and you're ready to show your teacher how much you appreciate them.

6. Classroom supplies
A lot of classroom supplies are paid for directly by the teacher. And most teachers will have a list of supplies they need throughout the year. They might even have an Amazon Wishlist. If they haven't provided you with either, don't be afraid to ask!

7. Cozy necessities
Now that the cooler weather has arrived, some cozy supplies are sure to make any teacher smile. Find a nice throw blanket, a warm pair of gloves, or even a fabulous candle.

8. Event tickets
Is there a fun local event happening soon? A pair of concert, play, or movie tickets is the perfect way to say thank you.

9. Volunteer
Ask your teacher if there are any volunteer opportunities for parents or guardians coming up. Often, teachers will ask for parent help for things like field trips. This is an awesome way to show your gratitude and alleviate some of their stress!

10. Snacks for the classroom
There is no better feeling for a teacher than to have a classroom full of happy, fed students. Just be sure to confirm of any potential allergies.

No matter how you choose to say thanks, genuine gratitude is the most important part of any "thank you". Teachers have done so much for our families and students and deserve all the appreciation in the world. We hope Cherokee County Educational Foundation has inspired you to give thanks to the teachers in your life this month.

Don't forget, CCEF continually supports CCSD faculty and students through grants that are funded by your donations! Thank you for donating and supporting our mission. Please don't hesitate to contact us for any questions.
